WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS... About 8 years ago I had a stroke in my right, dominant eye - called an ischemic Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO). It left me with kaleidoscope-like, tunnel vision out of that eye. To say the least, it was a very unexpected event. It changed a lot of things in my life including my perspective. At the time this occurred, I was 37 years old, I had 2 small boys and a baby on the way, and I was a partner in the largest law firm in the Quincy region doing primarily tax and contract work – living the American Dream. Full stop. After the CRVO event, I embarked on a time-consuming, years-long journey to “heal” my eye which entailed countless doctor visits throughout the region, needle injections directly into my eye (ugh!) and several ‘non-traditional’ healing methods, only to be told by the leading expert in the field that there was absolutely nothing to be done. I would never again have more than sketchy, blurred vision in that eye, even with corrective lenses. Again, full stop. After a lot of reflection and f bombs, I made a decision to move forward - I decided to make the most of it. I made a career change in 2015 to become a financial advisor which, as it turns out, has always been my thing anyway. As a finance and tax guy all my life it was not a huge transition in my mind, but it was hard to leave behind the legal practice I had worked so hard to build. Fast forward to 2019, and I am thrilled that I have been given the opportunity to start a new financial planning office in Quincy for Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management. I am thankful to all those in this great company for having the confidence in me and my practice to begin this new chapter. And I'm thankful for the deep team that is joining me in starting this venture in the Quincy office. I have always loved talking to people about their small businesses… learning about their strategies, their goals, their successes and failures. Now I’m starting one and it’s been a blast… stressful and tiring, yes, but truly I love it. It is certainly still in the beginning stages, but I am so excited to watch it grow and see where it leads. The CRVO event altered the course of my life, no doubt about it, but it has given me experiences and opportunities I likely would never have had if it had not happened. Best of all I get to help people in a very meaningful way while doing something I love.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. --Mark Twain
